Yvonne Hildebrand , MFT Trainee
Yvonne is a compassionate, trauma-informed counselor-in-training who works with immigrants, women, children, and elders. Raised in Hong Kong and now parenting a multiracial family in the Bay Area, she understands the complexities of bridging cultural and emotional worlds. Her personal healing journey—through unrecognized trauma that surfaced in her body and relationships—shaped her deep conviction that every person is worthy of love and compassion, especially in their lowest moments.
Before becoming a counselor, Yvonne taught in Buddhist, secular, and Christian schools in Hong Kong. Since immigrating, she has embraced cross-cultural living through an interracial marriage and in raising bicultural children, navigating themes of identity, belonging, and resilience.
As a therapist, Yvonne guides her clients through challenges and fosters positive changes in their lives. Her areas of focus include immigration stress and cross-cultural transitions, intercultural and interracial relationship challenges, trauma and its impact on body, mind, and relationships, caregiver fatigue and burnout, women’s issues across the lifespan, and faith, spirituality, and identity exploration.
Yvonne draws from evidence-based approaches—including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing—integrating them with a culturally humble, strengths-based perspective. Services are available in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” — Viktor Frankl
Outside of counseling, Yvonne enjoys cooking, baking, and exploring new food experiences. She brings the same curiosity and warmth to therapy that she brings to discovering culture through cuisine—meeting each person with openness, respect, and care.
