Thanks to a Safe Summer Initiative Grant from the City of San Jose Parks and Recreations Department, we are able to provide a 12 week program for our Residential clients. Our summer program is a series of workshops and activities that address family history, career and education development, physical and emotional health, finances/budgeting/debt, and healthy relationships/communication. We are able to bring in outside speakers, including GiveTeens20, to help our clients see what is possible.
Thank you to Shannon, the owner of a Chick-Fil-A, for teaching our clients how to interview for a job. Our clients had a great time learning how to interview successfully and then participated in a mock interview. Sharon said that she would hire one of our clients after a very moving mock interview that left the audience with goosebumps and tears!
Our clients also got to experience to power of a drum circle and the healing power of music thanks to a visit from Mark Farley, founder of I Am The Drum.
